Break Your Little Heart
2p!Canada x Reader
“Hey Mattie!” The addressed turned to face his brother while raising one of his eyebrows. “What do you want?” He asked as the American approached and wrapped an arm around the Canadian’s shoulders. “You heard about that new hottie in school right? The transferee from <insert name of school>?” Matthew rolled his eyes. “What about her?”
Al grinned. “Well, April fool’s Day is coming up soon so, you know dude, why not play a prank on her little feelings? I’ll pay the bill every time you eat at the mall for three years.” He bribed as the blond wrapped his arms. “I’m not that cheap, bastard.”
In cue, the bell rang to indicate the start of the next period will begin in 5 minutes. “Come on Mattie, just get into it.” Al forced gripping his brother’s collar. “Fine, but I want you to give me $500 dollars every month as well for three years.” Matthew smirked at the dumbfounded look on the brunette. “Fine, fine. I just want to see something entertaining all over again.” And with that, Alfred released his grip and walked away.
The blond Canadian sat in his usual spot in the classroom and looked around. No sign of any unfamiliar face. “Excuse me.” A voice sounded off from behind him as he turned to face you. “Is the seat beside you taken?” You asked pointing to the chair beside him. “Uh, no. It’s free.” He answered before turning away from her.
“I’m ______________ by the way. A transferee.” You introduced with a smile as you sat down. $)(!+ His thoughts screamed. She’s the one his @$$-faced brother betted him on. “Matthew. Call me Matt.” He managed to say despite the dark thoughts that were forming in his concerning what he should do with the tight situation.
The class you were in was French. Matthew didn’t bother listening in the boring lecture and slept on his desk. He was going to the good part of the dream when you poked him on the cheeks, earning a glare. “S-Sorry for waking you up Matthew.” You whispered. “But can you help me with the translation of some words? The teacher was talking too fast.” He sighed and rubbed his eyes before grabbing your notebook and pen.
You glanced silently at your seatmate, amazed at how he wrote down the words without pauses. After a few moments, the notebook with the pen inside it was returned to your desk. “Um, thanks.” You stated, flipping through the pages.
For a guy who wears glasses inside the building and look like some random gangster, he has a better handwriting. You scanned down the words with their matching translations until you came across one phrase that didn’t have any. It was also separate from the others. Maybe he did it for you to translate on your own? Still…
Voulez-vous sortir avec moi?
Moi is me… Sortir is something related to leaving or exiting… You scribbled each of their translations down and stopped.
Will you go out with me?
A clear blush was formed on your cheeks as you turned to your seatmate who lowered his sunglasses to reveal his piercing violet eyes and winked. You hesitated to answer. You just met him now! In class! And he’s already talking about going out?! Not to mention in French! “Que dites-vous, mademoiselle?” He asked in a whisper by your ear. He was lucky the teacher was writing something on the board.
“M-Matthew, we just met!” You excused, slightly moving away from him and his advancements. “So?” You gulped and looked around. Nobody was noticing the both of you. “Don’t you believe in falling in love at first sight?” You shook your head. “Not with you.” He smirked at your answer. “What kind of proof do you want then, eh?” You lowered your head and fumbled with your fingers.
He blinked. “‘Two weeks’?” You nodded before looking at him. “Prove yourself that you really did fall in love at first sight then we’ll celebrate with a date.” The Canadian was about to negotiate with you about lessening the number of days when the bell rang and you immediately stood up and left the room. Dammit! Two weeks is too long for me!
And so Matthew bore it. He bore the so-called ‘Two-Weeks-of-proving-that-he-‘really-fell-in-love-with-you’’. You both ate lunch together, talked to each other when he had a chance, brought you home every afternoon, exchanged numbers, he even needed the help of Francis and Artie whom he owe the credit for setting the traps in some places where he had to save you and the Englishman’s idea of placing roses by your locker with a greeting every day.
Finally, he managed to win you. He looked over at his calendar and saw the note on an encircled date. Date with ________________? Right, he forgot. He forgot the fact that sometime within the two weeks, maybe he did really fall in love with you.
He loved that way you would thank him for the roses he gave, the way you would laugh whenever he made a mistake in the words and apologize when he starts fuming up, he loved everything about you after the two weeks.
The Canadian broke from his thoughts when he heard his phone ring. Picking it up he saw your name and immediately pressed open.
I’m over at the café. Where are you?
He bit his lip. He know that Al was somewhere near that area, already laughing his jerk-@$$ed face at the sight of you being alone. It was that now or never moment for him. His reply was cut short when another number started calling him. “What?” He answered in utter annoyance at his brother.
“Dude, I love you, you know. _______________’s practically freezing here in the cold air waiting for you. Did she text you? I’m pretty sure she did, she keeps on staring at her phone waiting for a reply. This is by far, the greatest show you’ve ever set up for me. Oh and about the prize, I was just kidding with you bro. Happy April fool’s Day! Bye, love ya!”
Without second thoughts, he threw his phone somewhere in the living room, grabbed his coat, keys and wallet then dashed out of his house. Whether his brother liked it or not, he is going to kick him down the hill for what he did, of course, after meeting up with you that is.
You looked down at your phone’s screen and sighed. Maybe he really isn’t coming. You’ve been waiting in the cold for two hours already and any time longer, you might catch a cold. “Excuse me ma’am.” You looked up to find a waiter. “The person you have an appointment with, are you sure he will be arriving soon?” He asked concerned. You just let out a smile. “Just give him a few more minutes. I’m sure he will be.”
The man bowed. “There is actually another couple waiting for a vacant table so please just tell me if you would be taking your leave.” He stated as you nodded in understanding and looked at your watch. Five minutes. That’s all I have left to give you Matthew.
The blond Canadian was practically breathless when he arrived at the café. He looked around from the door for any sign that you were there until his view was blocked by a waitress. “May I help you sir?” She asked politely. “Is there a girl here? (h/l) (h/c) hair, (e/c) eyes, about this tall, sitting all alone?” The girl thought for a moment. “Please wait for a moment sir. Why won’t you take a sit for a while, you seem tired.” She motioned over to a chair which Matthew approached and sat on.
Despite the fact that he would be having his answer soon he still looked around every table that was in his field of vision. “Sir, one of our waiters saw here leave just a few minutes ago.” She stated making him stand up and look for his phone. “Great… Just perfect…” He mumbled under his breath.
“Thank you for coming sir.” The waitress said as he went out of the café. What would he be doing now? Kiss that love life goodbye? Obviously, you wouldn’t be talking to him for a long time after this. Heck, you might even change your whole ritual when tomorrow comes.
“You’re here.” His eyes widened as he turned around to find you there, standing with a smile on your face and tears that threatened to fall. He couldn’t believe it. You were still there despite the fact that it was already late and cold. “________________...”
He immediately pulled you into a tight embrace. “I’m sorry. I- It’s just that my brother’s such a jerk and… I’ve never been the best at dates and places and time and…” He pushed away to wipe a tear off your face. “I’m so sorry.” Your eyes widened at his actions as he pulled you back into a kiss and after what felt like forever, he broke it.
“Forgive me?” He asked looking into your (e/c) eyes. You let out a small giggle before nodding your head. He may curse and get annoyed easily but nonetheless, he did make an effort for you. “Apology accepted Matthew.” He flashed you one of his rarest smiles before picking you up and twirl you around a bit. “I love you, you know that.” He stated after settling you back down to the ground. “I love you too.”
Matthew let out a deep breath and held your hand. “Let’s go and have that date now.” He insisted as you both walked down the sidewalk. He may have failed to do his brother’s stupid dare of breaking your heart but at least he had something better than nothing.
~*~*~*~The Next Day~*~*~*~
“Wait, what is going on here Matt?!” Al asked seeing his blond brother alone in the men’s room. “What’s your problem?” The younger of the two answered drying up his hands. “You and _______________?! Together?! Literally!? Dude, I thought I told you to just play with her!” The brunette complained as Matthew let out a huff.
“The price wasn't worth it.” He said coolly as he passed by his brother who was, once again, in a dumbfounded state. “$)(!+… Hey Mattie, wait up! Just how did you manage to get her? Can you at least give me some tips?” The American asked, following his brother out of the room.
